Welcome to Nanny's for Granny's and Grandads too, a privately owned, Licensed Mom and Pop Senior Home Care Agency. Our mission is to provide qualified caregivers to families in need of home health care for their loved ones. We like to think were just more than an agency, we pride ourselves in becoming personally involved with each and every family. Most of our office/case managers have not only worked in the senior care field prior to working in our office, it gives them the hands on experience to be able to provide answers to your many questions and concerns you may have as well as know what to expect from a caregiver working in the senior home care field. You can always call us at any time for assistance and information, we're always there to help. We can custom tailor most any budget or schedule to accomodate any family in need of senior home care. Another important factor in dealing with a Home Health Care Agency vs going private, is that if for any reason a caregiver cannot come to work or has to leave, we as a Senior Home Care Agency can usually find a replacement within a reasonable amount of time. That alone guarantees a certain amount of peace of mind for families still trying to maintaining their own careers and personal life.
Would you trust an online Alzheimers test? A simple new cognitive test that can be downloaded online has taken the internet by storm. The Self-Administered Gerocognitive Exam – SAGE – has made memory screening available to the masses. It has the potential to improve lives and transform memory care through earlier detection of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Memory Loss Screening for the Masses Researchers have been exploring new ways to diagnose Alzheimer’s – from brain scans to spinal fluid tests – which are promising, but still in the research phase. Even if tests like these become part of the Alzheimer’s detection repertoire, they would tend to be conducted only after cognitive problems are apparent. Memory screening remains, and likely will remain, one of our best tools to detect Alzheimer’s. Traditionally, memory screening has only been conducted by physicians in the doctor’s office, and tests may not be given unless memory problems are already suspected. The new SAGE test is essentially a do-it-yourself memory screening test with the advantage of accessibility– particularly for those who don’t see the physician as often as they ought to, or who may not have had a memory screening test until much later in life. Advantages of Early Detection Early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia is important and has numerous benefits. While today’s treatments for Alzheimer’s disease are limited in their effectiveness, they have the best chance of helping when they begin early. In addition to the increased likelihood of benefiting from treatments, early detection has several other benefits to a senior and his or her loved ones: An opportunity for the senior to build better relationships with physicians and caregivers Ability to participate in clinical trials Time for the senior to make decisions about future care, financial and legal matters Early warning of cognitive problems also allows the senior’s loved ones to remain more vigilant. Dr. Douglas Scharre, who helped develop SAGE notes, “The results can be a signal that caregivers may need to begin closer monitoring of the patient to ensure their safety and good health is not compromised and that they are protected from financial predators.”
FOR MOM: Whether your Mom needs help for a few hours or twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, we’re here to help and address any of your concerns. All of us here at “Nannys For Grannys” take Senior Home Care very serious. We treat your Mom like we would expect our Mom to be treated. While we’re all going to grow old, some will age more gracefully than others, some will need more attention, some less. Here, we strive to maintain and improve their quality of life with dignity, respect, and compassion in the privacy of their own home. FOR DAD: Whether your Dad requires a few hours a day or continuous care, the services of “Nannys For Grannys” can put some of your frustrations or worries at ease. If your Dad is plagued by Dementia, Alzheimer’s, requires Geriatric care, or maybe just needs some companionship to keep him safe while at home, you’ve come to the right place. This is what we do and all we do. We take into consideration the pride and ego of many men, we consider the fact that up until this point in their life, most have been fairly independent and are used to doing everything themselves. We try to maintain that level of independence where possible, with one of our senior caregivers only an arm’s length away at all times.
